オランダ人作曲家“Jacob ter Veldhuis”の2007年楽曲、BUKUを使用して制作した映像とそれを用いたパフォーマンス。 音色に合わせてイメージを動かす視覚音楽の形態をとる。楽曲は巨匠と称される3人のサックス奏者の演奏音から取り出したサンプリング音と実際に演奏者が奏でるアルトサックスの音色の4つ、加えてこれらの3人のうちの一人のインタビューの音声のサンプリングによって構成される。これらのうち計４つのサックスの音に対応するようなイメージで、BUKUの各アルファベットが描かれた英字ブロックを動かしている。楽曲中ではしきりに”BUKU”の単語が繰り返し発言されるため、文字を常に表示するという構成をとった。本作品は元々、実際にステージ上で演奏を行う背景映像として制作したものである。サウンドと映像の一致というとオーディオリアクティブな演出が流行であるが、そのシーンのなかで古典的な手法を再起させたいという希望も込めている。 A performance using a video created with BUKU, a 2007 piece by Dutch composer "Jacob ter Veldhuis". The piece takes the form of visual music in which images move in accordance with the tones. The piece is composed of sampled sounds taken from the performances of three saxophone masters, four alto saxophone tones actually played by the musicians, and sampled audio from an interview with one of the three saxophonists. The alphabetic blocks with the letters of the alphabet BUKU are moved to correspond to the four saxophone tones. Since the word "BUKU" is often repeated in the music, the letters are always displayed. This work was originally created as a background video for an actual performance on stage. The coincidence of sound and image is a trend in audio-reactive staging, but I also wanted to revive a classic technique in this scene.
